Gauntlet Fleet Surveys are dynamic tools that provide key performance indicators (KPIs) to which to work if a haulage fleet manager or courier fleet owner wishes to reduce insurance premiums, control risks and prevent fraudulent claims.
They are created by Gauntlet’s health & safety and insurance teams, following a site visit and an in-depth analysis of a haulage fleet, its day-to-day operation, historic and current performance and claims history.
Whilst the visit takes just a day or two to complete, depending on the size and complexity of the haulage fleet and its operations, much of the analysis can be done at Gauntlet headquarters in Leeds. Fleets benefiting from Gauntlet Fleet Surveys are based nationwide and are not just from the haulage and courier sectors, but also from the general motor, courier and bus and coach industries.
As well as enhancing management information, a Gauntlet Fleet Survey provides documentation and evidence that Gauntlet can present to prospective insurers, to help demonstrate the extent to which a haulage or van fleet-based business is managing and improving its risk, using the measures suggested by Gauntlet and implemented within the haulage business.
A Gauntlet Fleet Survey will typically focus on driver pre-selection, retention and training, as well as vehicle selection and use and the current performance of the fleet. It is a tool with which to improve a haulage or van fleet’s effectiveness and one that can pinpoint training needs, to improve truck driver or van driver performance.
Additionally, the robust document can be used as evidence of efficiency and good management, when pitching for haulage or courier tenders.
Gauntlet director, Ian McCarron, says: “We regard our Fleet Surveys as part of a positive and progressive service that we provide to our haulage and courier fleet clients, both existing and new, when they are focused on both improving their risk, to benefit from the efficiencies and lower insurance premiums that such improvements bring, or when they wish to demonstrate their effectiveness to their own clients.
“Using this holistic approach, we can save our HGV and courier clients significant sums of money, as well as removing some of the hassles that accompany haulage claims incidents and administration. As a result, commissioning a Gauntlet Fleet Survey quickly proves to be money well spent by those in the trucking and van delivery sectors.”
